Born and raised in Georgia, where fashion was non-excitant and economy was very unstable in 1998 Gvantsa Salakaia left for United States where she graduated High School and had an opportunity to take classes such as fashion history and drawing but at that time back in the country where fashion wouldn’t be considered as a career, upon returning she enrolled in Tbilisi State University Law School and graduated with Master’s Degree followed by another Master’s Degree in EU Law from the University of d ‘ASSAS PARIS II in Paris France. After living in Paris she moved to New York City and enrolled in Parsons The New School for Design, where she was on Dean’s semester and got Parsons and Dean Scholarships for academic excellence .
While at Parsons Gvantsa had a chance to gain experience at Louis Vuitton PR Department, Chanel PR Department, Fashion GPS and NegriFirman PR & Communications Agency. Her deliberate choice to gain knowledge in marketing side of fashion showed her the side of industry, which is backbone for every brand and essential knowledge to be successful in it. Knowing from the start that she wanted to create and make clothes, founded her namesake brand Salakaia in 2015.
